Advertiser disclosure

Sponsored placements are always labelled, always separate, and never change a ranked rate.

The rule

A sponsored placement never alters where an institution sits in a ranked list. Not the order of a board, not the rate displayed, not whether an institution appears at all. Boards are ranked on the posted rate and filtered to your province and account type; the mechanics are in our methodology.

This is not a preference we would revisit for the right advertiser. It is the reason the rest of the site is worth reading.

What sponsorship can buy

Visibility. A clearly marked card where an institution can put its name in front of people who are actively comparing deposit rates. Any such placement carries a Sponsored label wherever it appears, and it never alters the order or membership of a ranked list — the ranked results are exactly what they would be if no one paid us anything.

What it can never buy

If an institution asks for one of these, the answer is no. Publishing the list is how we make that answer cheap to give.

Why this is separate from our methodology

This page is about money: who can pay us, for what, and what that payment never touches. The methodology is about data: where rates come from, how products are classified, and how a board is ordered. They are deliberately two documents, because "we're independent" is easy to assert and only means something when both halves are written down and can be checked against each other.

The industry norm we're departing from

Many rate comparison sites disclose that compensation can affect how, where, or in what order products appear — typically in a footer, in smaller type than the rates it applies to. We have taken the opposite position, and put it here at full size. Ranked placement is not for sale.

Rankings are not for sale

Rate rankings on Ratehunter are generated from rate data — which rates are highest, lowest, and available where you live. Advertising, partnerships, and editorial content (including invitedIndustry Voices articles) have no effect on where any brand appears on a board. Article labels are explained on our editorial standardspage.

Ratehunter publishes rate information, not financial advice, and does not sell the products it ranks.
