About Prospera Credit Union

Prospera Credit Union was formed in 2002 by the merger of Edelweiss Credit Union (founded 1943) and Fraser Valley Credit Union, and merged with Westminster Savings Credit Union effective January 1, 2020. On May 6, 2026, Prospera, Coast Capital, and Sunshine Coast credit unions closed a merger creating Canada's largest purpose-driven credit union, operating as Coast Capital Savings Federal Credit Union (about $40B in assets, 730,000 members); Prospera continues as a member-facing brand. As part of a federal credit union it is now OSFI-regulated with CDIC deposit insurance.
